Personal Injury
At The Sweeney Firm, our goal is to level the playing field against insurance companies and public entities.
The serious injury or death of a loved one can be very stressful. In this instance the loss of support and companionship, or a life-altering injury, can leave one with a hopeless feeling. You have only one chance to seek compensation for your injuries. We know this and understand that the lawyer you chose is one of the most important decisions of one’s life.
We are prepared to guide our clients through this tough time; and we pledge to aggressively pursue just compensation.

The Sweeney Firm recently reached a settlement with Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) on the largest personal injury/wrongful death settlement in its 50-year history. This complex litigation against BART was handled by the lawyers in our firm and we are proud to say that our client was justly compensated. The Firm has handled numerous other similar cases over the past four decades.
Wrongful Death
Our Firm has handled scores of wrongful death cases over the years. We are aware of the pain that the loss of a loved one can bring and we are prepared to guide you through this difficult period.
If a loved one is killed by someone else’s negligence, we would be honored to bring you justice.
Civil Rights
Our Firm’s national reputation is based on our groundbreaking results in civil rights cases. Simply put, we are the standard bearer in this area of law.
The great law professor Charles Hamilton Houston once said “a lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite on society.” John Sweeney has dedicated his professional life to being a social engineer.
Other Cases
John Sweeney cut his teeth as a lawyer trying criminal cases. He will never rule out representing the damned if he can bring justice for someone who is wrongfully charged with a crime.
